On Tuesday 8/2 The Larry Fitzgerald Foundation in partnership with Bell Bank and Dick's Sporting Goods conducted a Back-to-School Backpack giveaway and shopping spree at Dick's Sporting Goods in Tempe, AZ. Together we provided 80 + children of The Zion Institute with Backpacks filled with school supplies and $100 for in-store shopping to help prepare for the new school year.
Several children from Zion were part of the foster care system; either living with a foster family or with the state so it was great to have social workers and foster parents on-site to assist in facilitating the needs of the children. Larry himself along with TLFF team members and Bell Bank volunteers were be paired with 1-2 children and acted as personal shoppers for the participants, while they shopped for new shoes and clothes. Lunch was provided and it was amazing to see the excitement the children had as they received everything they needed to start the new school year.
To end the day, The Zion Institute received an unexpected surprise when the Dick's Sporting Goods team presented them with a $5,000 Grant!
This is the type of community work we love. We are extremely grateful to Bell Bank and Dick's Sporting Goods for their partnership and support.
