BREAST CANCER AWARENESS is an effort to educate communities about early detection, prevention, symptoms, treatments, resources and access surrounding a diagnosis. We are committed to providing resources for local organizations and nonprofits that make Breast Cancer Awareness a priority especially in communities that have been historically underserved.
EDUCATION: A vital part in prevention is the knowledge of risk factors including lifestyle, genetics, diet, age, family history and tobacco use to name a few. Understanding these factors along with self-examination could lead to a reduction of cases or early detection. Our mission is to assist organizations in expanding their message into communities across the nation. RESEARCH: Since the 19th century there’s been an evolution in the methods of prevention, detection, and treatment for breast cancer all due to breakthrough research. The funding of studies geared toward finding the cure is essential in providing hope to hundreds of thousands of Americans. Our mission is to fund research efforts that will provide new technologies geared toward eradicating Breast Cancer. RESOURCES: We know that access to local organizations providing support groups, financial assistance, and advocacy is a paramount. The ability to connect with a community of people that understand and can assist someone in navigating their journey after a diagnosis is critical to one’s mental and physical well-being as well as their survival. Our mission encompasses funding opportunities for those who seek to provide resources and services for breast cancer patients. FAMILY SUPPORT: We know that taking care of loved ones diagnosed with breast cancer can have its challenges. Our mission is to engage with organizations that understand the importance of providing a familial support system for those diagnosed and impacted by breast cancer. YOUTH EDUCATION is a vital necessity that should be afforded to every young person. We support local organizations and nonprofits with a focus on K-12 reading proficiency, after-school programs, sports camps and those maintaining the goal of bridging the gap in the ever-changing world of technology. We believe this will assist young people and communities in becoming better equipped with the skills required to thrive and be competitive.
READING PROFICIENCY: According to the U.S. National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) roughly 31% of children are below the reading proficiency level. Our mission is to provide educational facilities with funding for books and programs aimed to increase reading literacy in their communities. AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS: Nearly 58% of Black children and 55% of Latin children do not attend after-school programs compared to 46% of White children. However, if these programs did exist in their local communities’ parents of those children would allow them to attend. Our goal is to continue to partner with organizations that are currently hosting after-school programs or would like to start programs in communities where they are needed the most. YOUTH CAMPS: Creating an environment of fun through sports for children to learn new skills, build self-confidence, problem solve, and to understand the value of hard work can lead to an improvement in behavior both inside and outside of the classroom. Our mission is to host and fund youth sports camps to offer children a space to dream, set goals and continue to look forward to a bright future. TECHNOLOGY: The racial and ethnic digital divide can be seen in historically Black and Brown communities across the United States. Poverty, along with no access to computers or WIFI can stagnate the educational growth of any student. Our mission is to bridge the technology gap by partnering with programs and organizations in underfunded communities to provide the necessary equipment and/or funding to enable computer literacy and provide opportunities for a future in technology.
